Danish authorities are probing an incident involving drones near the Karup military base, which briefly closed a nearby civilian airport.
Another drone incident in Denmark
This is the latest in a series of drone-related incidents in Denmark. On September 24, air traffic was temporarily halted at Aalborg Airport in northern Denmark after unidentified drones were detected in the airspace. A similar incident occurred in Copenhagen on September 23. On the evening of September 26, drones were spotted over the largest Danish military base.
Investigation underway
Officer Simon Skelsjaer confirmed that the incident occurred around 20:15 (1815 GMT) on Friday and lasted several hours. One or two drones were observed outside and above the Karup airbase. The police cannot comment on the origin of the drones and stated they were not removed. Authorities are collaborating with the military to clarify the situation.
Airport closure due to drones
The Karup military base shares runways with the civilian Midtjylland Airport, which was briefly closed due to the incident. However, this did not affect any flights, as none were scheduled during that time.
