Human remains, likely bones, were discovered in a field near Skarszewo, Świecie, with authorities investigating their origin and duration on the site.
Initial findings and investigation
On Friday (26 September), “Gazeta Pomorska” reported that human remains, likely bones, were found in a field in Skarszewo near Świecie. The remains were secured, and the site was examined by Janusz Borucki, the district prosecutor in Świecie. The material was sent to the Forensic Medicine Department for analysis. The source of the bones and how long they had been in the field remain unknown. A bystander reportedly informed authorities about the discovery.
Similar cases in the region
This is not the first such incident in the area. Media outlets have previously reported similar findings. Last year in Belno near Jeżewo (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship), a landslide after heavy rain exposed bones resembling human remains. According to Kazimierz Woźniak, president of the Ocalić-Pamięć Foundation, the remains belonged to a man, but the exact time of death is uncertain—possibly 1939 or 1945, as the front passed through the region during both years.
