A third person has died after a collision on the S8 highway near Oleśnica, including a Skoda passenger who succumbed in hospital.
Initial casualty report
A third victim has died in hospital following yesterday’s crash on the S8 highway near Oleśnica. The deceased was a passenger in a private Skoda, as confirmed by Oleśnica police spokesperson Asp. Bernadeta Pytel. Earlier, two men—the Skoda’s driver and passenger—died at the scene. Another person in the Skoda was rushed to hospital in critical condition, along with a Peugeot passenger. The Peugeot’s driver escaped unharmed.
Cause of the collision
Police preliminarily determined that a 58-year-old Lithuanian truck driver likely fell asleep and struck the Skoda, which was following a Peugeot. The impact then pushed the Skoda into the rear of a Scania truck, explained Asp. Bernadeta Pytel in TVN24.

The crash occurred on Saturday, September 27, after 10:00 AM on the S8 near Oleśnica (Oleśnica County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship). Emergency teams dispatched included JRG Oleśnica, OSP Dobroszyce, OSP Ligota Polska, medical rescue teams, air ambulance, and police. Four kilometers further along the S8, another collision involving three private cars left one person injured.
