Polish police shut down an unlicensed gaming hall in Sochaczew County, confiscating slot machines and narcotics.
Operation details
Officers from the Economic Crime and Corruption Unit of the Sochaczew County Police dismantled an illegal gambling den operating slot machines with low payouts. Alongside the gaming equipment, they also seized drugs.
Investigators identified the illegal venue in a container within Teresin municipality. On September 25, they raided the location, finding a 42-year-old local resident operating five unregistered gaming machines.
Arrest and charges
Police confiscated the machines, cash, and drugs belonging to the suspect. The man was detained and taken to the Sochaczew County Police Station, facing charges under Article 107 § 1 of the Tax Criminal Code for running illegal gambling.
He also faces additional charges for possession of marijuana and amphetamines, which carry a potential prison sentence of up to three years.
Legal consequences
The suspect could receive a fine of up to 720 daily rates, up to three years’ imprisonment, or both penalties combined for operating illegal gambling. Drug possession charges carry a separate penalty of up to three years in prison.
