Police in Józefów swiftly arrest burglars, one breaks legs during escape

Two burglars were caught after ransacking a home in Józefów, with one injuring himself while fleeing.

Quick police response leads to arrests

Two burglars who broke into a home in Józefów had no luck. One of them broke both legs while escaping, and both were quickly apprehended by local police. Authorities confirmed that the thieves stole porcelain, a suitcase, tools, and electronics worth a total of 12,000 złotys. The prosecutor from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Otwock requested their temporary detention, which the court approved.

The swift actions taken by the police in Józefów earned praise from the victim, who sent a letter of thanks to the Otwock County Police Commander, noting that the officers’ conduct contributes to a greater sense of security among residents.

Burglary reported to police

Last Friday morning, a man called the Józefów Police Station, reporting a burglary at his home. He stated that he had just seen two men, one of whom jumped out of a window, and both fled the scene.

Police track down suspects

Police responded immediately, arriving at the scene and coordinating efforts to catch the suspects. After conducting several investigative steps, they arrested a 59-year-old and a 60-year-old man linked to the burglary. However, the 60-year-old was already wanted by the Otwock District Court for a 12-month prison sentence, while the 59-year-old, after jumping out of the window, broke both legs but still attempted to escape. After hospital treatment, he was also taken into police custody.

Investigation reveals theft details

During the investigation, police determined that the burglars had been stealing from the victim’s home since early September. They forced open the front door and stole porcelain, a suitcase, tools, and electronics, causing losses totaling 12,000 złotys.

Charges and detention

The arrested men have been charged with burglary. The prosecutor from the Otwock District Prosecutor’s Office requested their temporary detention, which the court granted for a period of three months.
