Attack details
Governor Andrey Vorobyov of the Moscow region confirmed the incident occurred overnight from Sunday to Monday (September 28–29). He stated that Russian forces shot down four Ukrainian drones in Voskresensk and Kolomna but acknowledged a fire broke out in Voskresensk, killing a 76-year-old woman and her six-year-old grandson.
Widespread drone activity
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported intercepting and destroying 84 Ukrainian drones, primarily over the Bryansk and Belgorod regions. Vorobyov added that several buildings in Voskresensk sustained damaged facades and windows, with street lighting also affected.
Ukrainian response
On Sunday, September 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that a 12-hour Russian attack resulted in at least four deaths, including a 12-year-old girl. He described the assault as “brutal” and “deliberate terror” targeting civilian areas, involving nearly 500 drones and over 40 missiles, including Kinzhals. Zelensky noted that key targets included Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and regions like Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, and Odesa.
