Polish travelers on a Ryanair flight from Warsaw to Zakynthos were stuck on the plane for 11 hours due to weather delays and logistical issues.
Initial delays and diversion to Athens
Polish passengers flying from Warsaw to Zakynthos on Ryanair flight RR3101 were delayed for an hour and a half before departure. Upon arrival in Athens for refueling, they were not allowed to disembark, with no food, drinks, or information provided for hours.
One passenger stated, “We couldn’t leave the plane, and when we asked for water or food, we were told Ryanair wasn’t prepared for such a situation.”
Repeated failed landing attempts
After refueling, the plane attempted to fly to Zakynthos again but had to return to Athens. Passengers were only allowed to leave after a confrontation broke out on board. Later, the travel agency Rainbow announced that the crew was waiting for better weather conditions before another landing attempt.
A passenger reported, “We’ve been trapped in the plane for 11 hours! No one knows what’s next. Even water costs money, which is unacceptable. We’ve been standing on the tarmac for over two hours, demanding to be let out.”
Final resolution and accommodation
Eventually, the travel agency confirmed that the flight would not proceed to Zakynthos that day. Airport staff arranged accommodation and transport for the passengers. Around 23 passengers received vouchers for food, and most were finally accommodated in hotels by 1:45 AM. The flight to Zakynthos is now expected to depart on Monday before noon.
