After over four years of construction, Warsaw University has inaugurated a new six-story Psychology Faculty building on Ochota Campus, featuring a 380-seat auditorium, labs, and a rooftop garden.
Modern Facilities and Sustainability
The 26,600 m² building includes a two-level auditorium, 30 classrooms, 20 research team modules, and a student service zone. It also features underground parking for 139 cars, 80 bike spots, a viewing terrace, and a rooftop garden. The structure uses geothermal heating and a 25 kW solar installation, aiming for a BREEAM “Very Good” sustainability rating.
Construction, led by Mostostal Warszawa, began in May 2021 and was completed in August 2025. The project, designed by Projekt Praga and Piotr Bujnowski Architekt, cost over 201 million złoty and was funded under the “Warsaw University 2016–2027” multi-year program.
Historical Context and Future Plans
The new building marks the end of 50 years of operations at the former Stawki 5/7 site, which dates back to 1938 and was used during WWII as an SS command post in the Warsaw Ghetto. The university plans further developments, including a new sports and recreation center at Banacha 2A, with construction set to begin in 2025.
During the opening, Rector Alojzy Z. Nowak emphasized the building’s role in advancing teaching and research. The event was attended by government officials, including Deputy Science Minister Marek Gzik.
