Fatal collision in Brochów
On Saturday, 27 September, a 57‑year‑old cyclist was killed when struck by a BMW in Brochów, according to police reports.
Immediate police response
Within minutes of the incident, the Sochaczew County Police received a call at 5:30 p.m. and launched an investigation under the direction of the district prosecutor.
Search and identification
Police dispatched two teams: one secured the scene and performed procedural duties, while the other searched for the driver. The culprit was later identified as a 26‑year‑old Sochaczew resident.
Arrest of 26‑year‑old
The suspect fled the scene but was detained a few hours later. Blood tests revealed nearly one ‰ of alcohol, and additional samples were taken for further analysis.
Charges and provisional detention
On 29 September the prosecutor charged him with causing a fatal accident, fleeing the scene, and driving while intoxicated, and requested a precautionary isolation measure.
Court decision
A court reviewed the evidence and temporarily imprisoned the 26‑year‑old for three months, with potential sentencing of 5 to 20 years in prison.
