Charges and detention

A man arrested following a knife attack in Białołęka has been charged with attempted murder and causing serious bodily harm. The Warsaw-Praga District Prosecutor’s Office announced the charges, and a court granted a three-month pre-trial detention at the prosecutor’s request.

Details of the incident

On the evening of September 26, 2025, a fight broke out between two men in Białołęka after they had been drinking together. The victim was stabbed multiple times in the neck and abdomen, with injuries that posed a real threat to his life, according to prosecutor Karolina Staros.

The victim managed to defend himself and fled the scene. “Prompt medical assistance saved his life,” Staros added. The perpetrator fled, but police actions—including creating a composite sketch, interviewing witnesses, and using a tracking dog—led to his identification and arrest.

On September 28, 2025, the suspect was formally charged in the Warsaw-Praga Północ District Prosecutor’s Office. “The prosecutor accused the suspect of repeatedly stabbing the victim in the neck and abdomen during the altercation,” Staros stated. After completing necessary procedures, the prosecutor requested pre-trial detention, which the court granted for three months.
