NATO Chief Demands Drone Wall, Rejects Millions‑Dollar Missiles

NATO Secretary‑General Mark Rutte announced a “drone wall” policy and denounced plans to spend millions on missiles to shoot down cheap drones.

NATO Accuses Russia of Airspace Violations

Rutte said Russian drones have recently violated the airspaces of Poland, Estonia and Denmark, holding Russia fully responsible.

He stated that authorities are still determining whether the incursions were deliberate; even if they were not, they were reckless and unacceptable.

Impossible to Spend Millions on Missiles

Rutte emphasized that Europe cannot afford to use multimillion‑euro missiles to shoot down drones that cost only a few thousand dollars.

Ukraine as First‑Line Defence

He said Ukraine is “our first line of defence” and that Europe supports the country for shared values and security.

EU Prioritises Drone Wall and Eastern Flank

The European Commission has drafted a flagship projects list, including a drone wall and strengthened eastern‑flank defence.

These proposals will be discussed at an informal summit in Copenhagen next Wednesday.
