They Kidnapped and Threw Him into a Lake – Prosecutor Says No Such Case in Years

On September 30, three men were arrested in Olsztyn for kidnapping a friend, forcing him into a car, driving him out of town, and sending him into a lake.

Shocking Incident in Olsztyn

The District Court in Olsztyn ordered the arrest of Oskar K., Krzysztof R. and Dominik Ć. on September 30. The case concerns events that took place on September 22 when the men allegedly kidnapped their friend Jakub S., forcibly putting him in a vehicle, driving him outside the city and ordering him to strip before sending him into one of the lakes.

The youngest detainee was 19, with the others 21 and 34. A minor was also involved but is being prosecuted separately. According to prosecutor Daniel Brodowski, the men forced Jakub to strip, threatened him, and left him barefoot outside the city. Prosecutors noted that such a case has not been recorded for years; similar crimes were reported many decades earlier.

Potential 25‑Year Sentence

The men face charges of unlawful confinement with special aggravating cruelty under Article 189 of the Polish Penal Code. If the offense is combined with special cruelty, the prison term can range from five to twenty‑five years.

The defendants submitted statements, denying guilt and claiming their motive was a dispute with Jakub S. The prosecutor stated that they will be tried under the same paragraph.

How to Respond to Witnessed Violence

Witnesses of violence or who suspect harm are urged to help potential victims in several ways. They can talk directly to the victim, offer assistance, or report their concerns to the police, the Social Assistance Center, or call the “Blue Line” at 800 12 00 02. Victims often hide perpetrators out of shame or fear, but intervention can start the process of leaving violence and ensure safety.
