PiS treasurer Henryk Kowalczyk revealed Karol Nawrocki’s campaign reached a 24‑million‑euro limit, while the National Electoral Commission approved the party’s financial report following a Supreme Court decision.
Campaign Spending Hits 24 Million Euros
PiS treasurer Henryk Kowalczyk said that Karol Nawrocki’s campaign reached the limit of 24 million euros, the maximum allowable for the election committee rather than the party itself.
Kowalczyk noted a surge in donations during the campaign and said further mobilisation was needed, but warned that Chief Finance Minister Domański did not yet have the funds to disburse.
PKW Adopts PiS Financial Report After Supreme Court Appeal
At the end of last year the National Electoral Commission (PKW) approved PiS’s financial statement for the parliamentary elections following a legal challenge and a decision by the Special Control and Public Affairs Chamber of the Supreme Court.
The PKW chief acknowledged that the resolution was unusual, citing its dependence on a court filing and the court’s status, which has been contested by the European Court of Justice.
Polish parliament members and the ruling coalition declined to recognise the Court’s ruling, expressing uncertainty about the chamber’s judicial character. Sylwester Marciniak emphasised that doubts remain regarding the status of the Special Control Chamber and its judges.
