Poland Faces Potential Frosts as IMGW Forecasts Winter Weather

Poland’s climate agency predicts cool autumn conditions with possible overnight frosts and mountain snowfall, warning that temperatures may dip below zero only in the Tatra Mountains on October 2.

Frosts in Poland

Cold air moving in from the west will bring autumn weather, but a winter feel will be felt in parts of the country. Snow will fall in the mountains, and on the ground there will be local frosts.

Most observers agree the cooling will not be strong enough for frosts to persist. The first sub‑zero drop is expected only in the Tatra Mountains, where the night‑time low on 2 October will be –3 °C.

Temperatures further north will be higher. Daytime highs will reach 9 °C in the south, 14 °C in north‑west Poland, and around 7 °C in the foothill regions.

Weather on Friday

IMGW forecasts moderate to heavy cloud cover with light rain, and in the mountains rain mixed with snow or snow alone.

The night will be cold again, with surface frosts likely. Daytime maxima will range from 10 to 15 °C, and in the foothill areas from 6 to 9 °C.

Weekend Forecast

The weekend will be overcast, though Sunday may clear in the west. Saturday’s precipitation will come as rain in the southeast; Sunday rain will fall in the south and centre.

Certainly, rain‑snow mixtures will persist in the Tatras all weekend. Saturday maximum temperatures are 9 °C in the south, about 16 °C centre, up to 18 °C in the north‑east. Sunday highs will be 9–13 °C in the south and 14–17 °C in the west.

The forecast also notes that nighttime temperatures toward the end of the week will be higher than earlier estimates.
