Over three days, Warsaw police received reports of two unsuccessful Toyota Corolla thefts, during which thieves damaged interiors, set fire extinguishers ablaze, and were thwarted by vehicle safeguards.
Failed Theft Attempts
In a short span across Warsaw, two Toyota Corolla models were targeted in separate but similar attempts. The thieves broke into the cars, damaged internal components, and then tried—but failed—to start and drive the vehicles.
Electronic and mechanical security systems prevented the vehicles from being started, stopping the criminals from escaping with the cars.
Damage and Disposal
Both incidents left extensive damage. After their failed starts, the perpetrators ignited powder extinguishers inside the cabins, consuming traces of evidence and leaving the interiors in flames.
The resultant destruction is likely to be classified as total loss by insurers.
Police and Insurance Action
Each event was formally reported to the appropriate police units. Vehicle owners noted the similarities in damage and execution, hinting that the same group may have carried out the attacks.
Investigators will pursue potential links between the incidents, while the gathered evidence will be forwarded to insurers and judicial authorities for further proceedings.
