On Wednesday, Israeli navy vessels halted several Global Sumud Flotilla ships, detaining Polish MP Franciszek Sterczewski among others and transporting passengers to an Israeli port.
Polish Foreign Ministry Monitors Situation
The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on X that it is monitoring the situation of the Global Sumud Flotilla. It stated that its consular services remain in contact with relevant institutions, including Israeli ones, and will act within the bounds of law to protect Polish citizens.
Israel Detains Flotilla Vessels
During the evening of Wednesday, Israeli navy ships detained several vessels belonging to the Global Sumud Flotilla. The ministry reported that 13 ships were seized and their passengers were transported to an Israeli port.
International Law Concerns
Representatives of the flotilla claimed that the seizure and takeover of ships on international waters contravenes international law.
Polish MP Captured
Polish MP Franciszek Sterczewski posted a video on social media showing his arrest by Israeli forces. He urged Polish authorities for support and intervention.
Multiple Ships Seized
The flotilla consists of dozens of vessels with around 500 participants, including climate activist Greta Thunberg. Israeli navy has detained 13 ships to date.
