School Evacuation in Piaseczno
At 10:50 a.m. on Thursday, a call was received by the public relations officer of the County Command of the State Fire Service in Piaseczno, initiating an evacuation of Primary School No. 5. Nearly 861 people—students and school staff—were moved to safety.
Footage and reports were provided by Junior Brigade Commander Łukasz Darmofalski, who confirmed the decision by school authorities and the dispatch of six fire brigade shifts.
Strong, Burning Odor
Two school occupants complained of a general feeling of illness. Staff reported a “strong, biting, irritating” smell in one hallway, prompting an inspection by firefighters.
Firefighters checked communication lines and classrooms but found no hazardous substances. Simultaneously, staff opened windows to ventilate rooms and corridors.
Despite the investigation finding no dangerous material, school leadership acted appropriately, as stated by the fire service officer.
No Injuries Reported
Three emergency medical units arrived on scene, treating 32 people who reported feeling unwell.
None of the patients required hospitalization; all returned to class after approximately 40 minutes, according to Junior Brigade Commander Darmofalski.
