Ambulance Involved in Side Crash on Bielan Street, Helicopter Landed

An ambulance struck a Nissan on the intersection of Gen. Maczka and Rudnickiego streets in Warsaw’s Bielany district on Oct. 3, 2023 at 4:56 p.m., sending the emergency vehicle sideways and prompting a helicopter landing.

Collision Details

At 16:56 on Oct. 3, an ambulance operating under emergency signals collided with a Nissan at the crossing of Gen. Maczka and Rudnickiego streets. The ambulance entered the intersection on a red light, forcing the Nissan driver to brake and resulting in the impact.

Emergency and Medical Response

The ambulance tilted to its side but ultimately regained a standing position. Fire, medical, and police units arrived on the scene, along with an LPR helicopter that landed near the incident but was subsequently withdrawn. The Nissan driver was transported to hospital by ambulance.

Traffic Disruptions

Road traffic is heavily disrupted: two lanes toward Reymonta and the turn on Rudnickiego are blocked. Buses on lines 103, 122, 180 were diverted onto detour routes, and motorists are advised to expect congestion and temporary manual traffic control.

Investigation

Police are conducting an inquiry into the sequence of events. Initial reports listed no injuries, but the Nissan driver later required hospital treatment after the collision.
