Russian drones hit train and station in Szostca
A drone attack on the Szostka‑Kiev train and the nearby railway station in the Sumy region wounded at least thirty people, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski. Rescue teams are on site and the exact number of casualties is still being confirmed. Both railway staff and passengers sustained injuries.
President Zelenski condemns the attack
Zelenski called the assault a terror against civilians, urging that “Russia’s daily killing of people must be stopped by force” and demanding decisive action from Europe and America. He warned that “Putin must feel the danger of continuing the war” for himself and his regime.
Ukraine’s drone response to Russian attacks
Ukrainian drones have been striking deep into Russian territory at increasing ranges, in reply to Russian aerial attacks. President Zelenski said Ukraine deploys between one hundred and one hundred fifty drones per operation, less than Russia, but their effectiveness is improving. The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared the use of a “barbaric double strike” tactic by Russia.
Strike on Russian refinery in Orsk
On 3 October, Ukrainian unmanned aircraft struck a refinery in the Russian city of Orsk, located 1,500 km from Ukraine on the border of Europe and Asia. The target was a key facility previously considered safe by Russian forces, and the operatives used Lutyis, a widely produced Ukrainian drone model.
