Israel will maintain a military presence in three designated areas of Gaza, even after pulling troops as proposed in Trump’s plan, state broadcaster KAN said.
Three Strategic Areas
According to KAN, Israel intends to keep forces in a buffer zone within Gaza, the Philadelphia Corridor along the Egypt border, and on the Tel al‑Mantar hill east of Shujaiya. The hill rises to about 70 m above sea level, providing a good observation point.
Preliminary Withdrawal Line
On Saturday night (Poland time), Donald Trump announced that Israel had agreed to a “preliminary line of withdrawal.” The proposal was also presented to Hamas; if accepted, a cease‑fire would take effect immediately and prisoner exchanges would begin.
Negotiations in Cairo
On Sunday and Monday, Israeli and Hamas representatives will meet in Cairo to discuss Trump’s peace plan, with Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff as Trump’s envoys. The plan, backed by Poland and others, calls for ending the war, withdrawing Israeli troops, and exchanging prisoners. Issues of Hamas disarmament and Gaza governance remain unresolved.
Continuing Israeli Air Strikes
Hamas has tentatively accepted the conditions, but Israel has not stopped air raids on Gaza. Within 24 hours, dozens were killed in the enclave. Since October 2023, Gaza has lost more than 67,000 Palestinians, and 48 Israeli hostages remain captive, many of whom may be dead.
Polish Medical Mission Aid
The Polish Medical Mission is sending doctors directly to Gaza to deliver assistance on the ground, urging donations to support aid efforts. (Link removed.)
