Polish Officers Assisted Arrest

Ukrainian security counterintelligence, with help from Polish police, detained a 16‑year‑old Russian spy who had been recruiting people to stage terror attacks against Ukrainian territory while operating from a European Union country.

Recruitments Target Teenagers

Most of the people he lured were teenagers seeking easy money. The agent was based in Kharkiv and had left Ukraine a year earlier, but carried out his operations from abroad.

Recent Attacks Executed by Recruits

Two 15‑year‑olds from Kharkiv, recruited by the agent, carried out a bomb attack near police stations in Słobidska and Chołodnohirsk districts in December 2024. Russian special services remotely detonated improvised devices, prompting the suspects to be arrested on the spot. The agent also recruited a 21‑year‑old woman who placed an explosive near a military recruitment center in Odessa, where she was caught immediately.

The agent remains in custody, facing up to 12 years in prison and asset forfeiture, per the SBU’s statement.

Drone Assaults on Russia

During the night of October 5‑6, Russia was hit by more than 250 Ukrainian drones, striking 16 oblasts and the occupied Crimean peninsula. The drones targeted military and energy infrastructure, striking an oil refinery near Teodozia and a military airfield in Saki, causing damage to fuel tanks, airport facilities and a radar station. Ukrainian drones’ attacks are said to have weakened Russia’s economic capacity.
