Army Gendarmerie Pursues Soldier, Shots Fired

On Monday, October 6 at about 4 p.m. in Elbląg, Polish Army Gendarmerie officers fired warning shots while attempting to detain a soldier suspected of stealing military property.

Army Gendarmerie officers sought to arrest a soldier in Elbląg, north‑eastern Poland, after he was suspected of taking military assets. The suspect ignored commands to stop and fled in his private car.

Use of Warning Shots on Obrońców Pokoju Street

During the chase, officers fired warning shots. The soldier attempted to strike an officer with his vehicle, prompting the officers to discharge further shots into the fleeing car’s tires.

No Injuries Reported

The incident ended with the suspect captured. According to official statements, no one was injured.

Investigation Process

The war‑law prosecutor’s office in Olsztyn is investigating the case. Prosecutions will ultimately determine the suspect’s fate.
