The Polish Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has issued a hazard forecast for low‑pressure system Amy, warning of prolonged fog, wind, and mixed precipitation across many provinces from 7 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7 to 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Hazard Forecast
IMGW released a hazard forecast that includes fog with visibility limited to 200 metres expected to last at least eight hours, beginning 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7 and ending 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, in Lower Silesian (eastern counties), Kuyavian‑Pomeranian (except north‑western counties), Lublin, Łódź, Lesser Poland, Masovian, Opole, Podkarpackie, Podlaskie, Pomeranian (eastern counties), Silesian, Świętokrzyskie, Warmian‑Masurian and Greater Poland (eastern counties). Synoptic reports anticipate first‑degree wind alarms on Friday for the northern counties of Pomeranian and West Pomeranian provinces.
Tuesday Weather
TVN24 reports that the week will be shaped by low Amy. Tuesday is forecast to be mostly cloudy with clear intervals, while residents in eastern areas will experience gusts. IMGW forecasters expect brief rain showers, potentially strongest in Upper Silesia and Lesser Poland, as well as sleet high in the Sudetes and snowfall in the Carpathians and Tatra mountains. Maximum temperatures range from 11 °C in the south, about 13 °C in central regions, to 16 °C in the west.
Cooler Carpathian Foothills
The Carpathian foothills will be cooler, with thermometers showing around 8 °C. Winds will be weak, driven by the expanding low‑pressure centre from variable directions – westward on the western side, south and east along the coast, and north near the sea, according to synopists.
