Ukraine Readies Explosive Assaults on Moscow Region

Ukraine’s air and missile forces are preparing coordinated strikes on Russia’s most guarded areas, chief officer Roman Parkhanov said, citing plans to target the Moscow region and Crimea.

Drone Operations Target Moscow Region

Roman Parkhanov, deputy commander of the 14th Regiment of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, said Ukraine is preparing coordinated drone strikes against the heavily defended Moscow region and Crimea. He noted that daily efforts overcome new obstacles.

He expects that about 70 % of future attacks will involve missiles, though that capability is not yet available. For the time being drones remain the primary weapon.

Future Missile Capability

Parkhanov stated that Ukraine is waiting for its missile systems to be combined with drones when striking Moscow and its surrounding areas. He emphasized that, despite the region’s strong defenses, forces can still find weak points.

“It’s only a matter of time before we carry out comprehensive attacks on the Moscow region using drones and missile systems,” he added.

Boosting Domestic Missile Production

Kyiv is increasing its own missile production, with Ukraine’s armaments industry now producing two types of long‑range maneuverable missiles. Both are new technologies aimed at striking Russian targets.

Ukrainians have modified the Neptune missiles to destroy land targets in addition to naval ones, and recently struck a Russian weapons factory in the Bryansk region.

Neptune System Evolution

The Neptune missile had its first combat success by sinking the flagship Russian cruiser Moskva early in the conflict. The system has now been adapted to target ground facilities.

Flamingo: Ukraine’s New Long‑Range Asset

The Flamingo missile, with a range of 3,000 km and a warhead exceeding one ton, entered service this year and is already used against Russian targets, according to The Economist.

Unofficial reports suggest Ukraine produces two Flamingo missiles daily, with plans to increase to seven in the coming weeks, indicating a potential parity with Russian missile output.
