Chaos erupts after party in parliamentary hotel; PiS MP defends Matecki with song

On 6 August, a row broke out at Poland’s parliamentary hotel when PiS MP Dariusz Matecki defended himself with a song amid vulgarity accusations.

Kaleta calls the chant non‑vulgar

On Tuesday, October 7, 2023, Sebastian Kaleta appeared on Polsat News’ “Graffitti” to discuss the media‑reported dispute at the parliamentary hotel that took place on August 6. He recited the contentious chant “Staszek piątka, Tomek dycha, a dwudziestka dla Giertycha” and challenged journalists, asking where they heard vulgarity. Kaleta claimed the chant contains no vulgar language.

August 6 incident: vocalists ignite confrontation

According to Rzeczpospolita, the clash occurred on the day of Karol Nawrocki’s inauguration. Dariusz Matecki and fellow MPs sang loudly in the hotel’s dining area. The refrain “Staszek piątka, Tomek dycha, a dwudziestka dla Giertycha” was viewed by members of the Civic Coalition (KO) as a provocation. Senators from KO, including Tomasz Grodzki, approached the singers, sparking an angry exchange and prompting intervention by the Marshal Guard. Matecki maintained that the PiS MPs merely sang.

Political responses diverge over vulgarity claims

Tomasz Grodzki, in an interview with Super Express, argued that the volume of alcohol at the PiS table proved the MPs were intoxicated. Matecki denied drinking, citing his battle with cancer and asserting the words were not vulgar. He blamed Platforma Obywatelska politicians for their aggressive remarks. Przemysław Czarnek also accused opposition figures of disrespecting families and lacking moral authority.
