Polish police in Warsaw recovered a 25‑year‑old woman from a car trunk after a disturbing tip and detained the 49‑year‑old driver, who had court bans and drug‑related charges.
Woman in the trunk
A disturbing report of a woman being transported in a car trunk prompted patrols from Praga Północ and anti‑crime officers to act. After brief searches, Warsaw police located the indicated Volkswagen at the intersection of Ratuszowa and Inżynierska streets. The trunk indeed contained a teenage woman. Police seized the driver’s keys and handcuffed him, then extracted the passenger from the trunk, reports Police Deputy Commissioner Paulina Onyszko of the VI Police District Command in Warsaw.
Disturbing report
Checking the 49‑year‑old’s data revealed he was prohibited from driving. He faced two court bans issued by the district courts of Warsaw‑Praga‑Południe and Warsaw‑Woli, effective until October 2027.
Repeated violation of law
The detainee was already known to police. Previously he had been twice fined for driving under the influence of alcohol and six times stopped for driving in violation of court bans. His record also included other offences. This time, the breathalyzer found him sober, but a drug test confirmed he was driving under the influence of amphetamine and methamphetamine. He admitted to using them. Additionally, the vehicle he was driving lacked up‑to‑date technical inspections or a valid insurance policy.
What the woman said
The 49‑year‑old and his 25‑year‑old passenger were taken to the police station. During interrogation, the woman explained that she had chosen to travel in the trunk of the acquaintance because she was tired and wanted to rest. The man faces a charge of driving under the influence of drugs during the period of court bans and could receive up to five years in prison. The investigation is conducted by the Warsaw‑Praga‑Północ District Prosecutor’s Office.
