Polish Delegates Return to Warsaw
Polish participants of the Global Sumud Flotilla, including Omar Faris, Nina Ptak, Ewa Jasiewicz and Franek Sterczewski, are scheduled to land in Warsaw‑Okęcie on Wednesday, October 8, aboard Aegean flight A3 872 at 17:30. The flotilla had been blocked by the Israeli army overnight of 1–2 October, some tens of miles from Gaza’s coast, on international waters, after activists refused voluntary deportation and were detained by Israel.
Deportation of 171 Global Sumud Participants to Greece and Slovakia
On Monday, October 6, a group of 171 Global Sumud Flotilla members were reported deported to Greece and Slovakia. The cohort included citizens from Greece, Italy, France, Ireland, Sweden, Poland, Germany, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Austria, Luxembourg, Finland, Denmark, Slovakia, Switzerland, Norway, the UK, Serbia and the United States, with climate activist Greta Thunberg among them.
Consular Statement on Polish Citizens in Israel
Polish consul Radosław Sikorski said he had just concluded consultations with Polish citizens detained in Israel and that, despite their refusal to leave voluntarily, they are expected to return home in the coming days. He urged adherence to foreign ministry guidelines.
Deputy MP Sterczewski Calls for Accountability
Deputy MP Franek Sterczewski, one of the Polish delegates, appeared on social media for the first time since his arrest, stating that he and the others are “all fine and sound,” but warned that the genocide in Gaza continues. He questioned Polish politicians’ response, asking whether they keep turning a blind eye or are outright legitimizing the catastrophe.
