Żelazna Street Traffic to Reconfigure on Oct 8

Polish traffic authorities will implement new traffic arrangements on Żelazna Street on Wednesday, Oct. 8.

Traffic Reconfiguration Announced

Traffic controllers announce another stage of work at the intersection of Solidarności Avenue with Żelazna Street. On Wednesday, 8 October they will fence off lanes for turning onto Żelazna, and trams will again stop near the town hall.

Bike Lane Expansion on Solidarności

Construction of a bikeway continues on Solidarności Avenue. The new route will connect existing paths on Jan P. II Avenue and Okopowa Street. The median toward Okopowa will be rebuilt together with the intersection with Żelazna. Tram and bus stops toward Kercelaka have been moved behind the intersection with Żelazna, and gardeners will plant trees, shrubs, and perennials.

Specific Changes at Żelazna Intersection

Further changes will be implemented by traffic controllers on Wednesday, 8 October, at about 6:00 am. On Solidarności Avenue, lanes for turning right onto Żelazna will be closed from Jan P. II Avenue and Kercelaka; drivers will turn in neighboring lanes. At the intersection, there will be two lanes each direction.

Work on Żelazna will move to the opposite side of the street. Drivers will pass in both directions, but the lane near the town hall will be fenced off. Turning left from Nowolipie toward Jan P. II Avenue will still not be possible.

Tram Stop Wola‑Ratusz Relocated

The tram stop Wola‑Ratusz 04 (toward Okopowa Street) was moved behind the intersection with Żelazna and is now at the same level as stop Wola‑Ratusz 03 (toward Bank Square). From Wednesday, 8 October, trams of lines 13, 20, 23, and 26 will stop there. At this stage, only one tram will stop temporarily; after the rebuild, the stops will be longer and can accommodate two carriages at once.

Bus Stop Relocation Near Town Hall

Parallel to the tram stops, on the sidewalk of Solidarności Avenue, there will also be a bus stop toward Okopowa Street – traffic managers will relocate it below the town hall.
