Councilwoman Accuses Taxi Driver of Pepper‑Spray Attack in Gdańsk

A Gdańsk councilwoman from the Civic Coalition claims she was pepper‑sprayed by a taxi driver in September, prompting police investigations and a forthcoming prosecutor decision.

Accusations from the Councilwoman

In early September, Councilwoman Sylwia Cisoń alleged that a taxi driver attacked her by spraying pepper spray. She described the driver approaching in an incorrect spot, then, as she disembarked, shouting obscenities and forcibly spraying her face.

A video released by Trojmiasto.pl shows the driver speaking in Polish, contradicting the councilwoman’s earlier claim that he spoke a different language.

Police recorded an incident of bodily injury and collected evidence, including a medical expert opinion. The report was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.

Simultaneously, the taxi driver filed a complaint alleging ethnic defamation and bodily injury against the councilwoman.

Prosecutor’s Decision

After reviewing the evidence, the prosecutor decided to dismiss the case regarding bodily injury, noting the accusation was private. No final decision on the taxi driver’s complaint has yet been made.
