In a TVN24 interview, Łukasz Michnik, spokesperson for the left coalition, accused PiS MP Dariusz Matecki of steering a rowdy faction known as “patoposłów” and criticized his conduct at the parliamentary hotel.
Matecki Accused of Leading the “Patoposłów”
Situations that arose in the parliamentary hotel prompted Agriculture Minister Stefan Krajewski to leave the premises. Łukasz Michnik said the individuals responsible for the brawl were labeled “patoposłów” and identified Dariusz Matecki as the main figure behind the group.
Spokesperson Criticizes Matecki’s Conduct in the Parliamentary Hotel
Michnik described Matecki as causing a disturbance in what he called the “bar behind the bars,” behaving in ways that did not accord with the seriousness of a parliamentary mandate. He noted that the Marshal’s Guard had also intervened in Matecki’s case and argued that such drunken antics should no longer find a place in the Sejm.
Past Controversies: Singing and Insults
On 6 August, Matecki reportedly sang with other PiS MPs a song that hinted at future judgments against opposition politicians, sparking a heated exchange with ruling‑coalition MPs. A senator later described a drunken scene in the parliamentary restaurant where, under Matecki’s leadership, a drunken individual celebrating an inauguration used vulgar language towards a coalition senator.
Other Altercations and Legal Reports
Matecki was also involved in a confrontation with Jacek Kopczyński on 21 May, after which a breathalyzer test showed he was sober. In June 2023 Szymon Hołownia cited a Marshal’s Guard report claiming Matecki had entered the hotel roof through a window that night; Matecki later explained to PAP that he had wanted to take a photo.
