From October 10–17, 2025, Masovian authorities will conduct an autumn fox rabies vaccination campaign across the voivodeship, including Warsaw, urging residents not to handle capsules.
Regulatory Announcement
The Masovian Prefectural Veterinary Surgeon issued a ban on releasing cats and mandated dogs to be leashed for 14 days after the campaign.
Campaign Timing and Coverage
The vaccination will run from 10 to 17 October 2025 throughout all counties in Masovia, including Warsaw, with alerts posted to residents and Warsaw City Hall confirming bait may appear in parks and green spaces.
Drop‑Shot Vaccination Method
Foxes will be vaccinated via aerial drops and manual placement of bait containing Rabadrop oral vaccine. About 30 doses will be spread per square kilometre.
Vaccine Details
The bait holds a plastic blister with liquid Rabadrop, which, once bitten by a fox, triggers an immune response. The flavouring is fish‑based.
Safety Precautions for Humans and Pets
Anyone touching the blister must wash hands with soap and water and seek medical attention. Pet owners should contact a veterinarian if their animals ingest blister fragments.
Hunting Restrictions and Follow‑Up
Collective hunting is prohibited for 14 days across the vaccinated area, with the programme designed for seasonal repeat vaccinations.
