Israel and Hamas Reach Ceasefire; Trump Set to Address Knesset

On Oct. 9, Israel and Hamas signed a ceasefire, and former US President Donald Trump will address the Knesset to mark the deal.

Symbolic Gesture After “Historic Day”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that former U.S. President Donald Trump had been invited to speak before the Israeli parliament, underscoring the United States’ role in securing the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Earlier, the two leaders had a telephone conversation in which they congratulated each other on the “historic event”.

Ceasefire and First Steps of the Peace Plan

Israel and Hamas signed the first phase of a 20‑point peace plan, which calls for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from agreed positions and the exchange of hostages held by both sides. Netanyahu said a government meeting will convene today, Oct. 9, to formally approve the ceasefire. The first twenty hostages are expected to be released Saturday, Oct. 11, or Sunday, Oct. 12.

Hostage Release Commitment

“With God’s help, we will bring them all home. It is a great day for Israel,” the Prime Minister’s office said in a statement.
