On Wednesday, two Polish Border Guard officers were assaulted in Tbilisi, Georgia, after finishing a so‑called return operation conducted jointly with Frontex. Polish officers were attacked with a baton and a knife, suffering serious injuries.
Medical Treatment
Both officers were transported to hospital. One has already undergone surgery; the other remains in the operating room. The spokesperson for the Border Guard Commander, Major‑General Andrzej Juźwiak, confirmed the information.
Operational Context
The Polish presence in Georgia was related to the return operation, which concerned Georgian and Pakistani citizens required to leave the territory of the Republic. Investigation of the assault is being carried out by Georgian police, and the Border Guard is retaining further details.
