Trams Resume After Miller Work on Warsaw’s Marszałkowska

From Friday evening to Monday morning, Warsaw’s Marszałkowska Street will be closed for milling, causing tram lines 15 and 16 to halt and setting new detours for cars and buses.

Tram Resumption After Milling

Trams will resume service on Marszałkowska and Grójecka streets on Monday after rapid milling work was completed.

Friday Night Stop of Marszałkowska

On Friday, October 10 at 22:00, road workers will close Marszałkowska toward Dmowskiego Roundabout, from Świętokrzyska to Widok. The road reopens on Monday, October 13 at 04:00.

Detours Around the Closure

Drivers are directed along Świętokrzyska, Emilii Plater, and Jerozolimskie avenues. Alternative routes via Grzybowska or Królewska lead to Emilii Plater and Jerozolimskie. A detour through the Solidarności and Jana Pawła II avenues also bypasses the closed section.

Right‑Turn Lane for Bankowo Square

A separate lane will be set aside for vehicles turning right onto Królewska from Bankowo Square. At the intersection with Świętokrzyska, drivers from two lanes may also turn right.

Pedestrian and Bicycle Crossing Adjustments

The crossing at Marszałkowska near the former Sesame will be closed. Pedestrian and bicycle passage will occur on the opposite side of the intersection. The zebra crossing at Widok remains open.

Tram Lines Affected Over the Weekend

Temporary sidings that had allowed lines 15 and 16 to change direction are being dismantled, so these trams will not run over the weekend. Line 66 will operate between Piaski and the Marymont‑Potok loop via Broniewski, Jana Pawła II Avenue, Stawki, Anders, and Mickiewicz. Lines 4 and 18 keep their current routes.

Bus Route Changes During Milling

From 22:00 Friday until Sunday’s end, buses 128 and 175 heading toward Szczęśliwicki and Chopin Airport from Piłsudski Square will follow Królewska, Małachowskiego, Mazowiecka, and Świętokrzyska before joining the regular route on Nowy Świecie. Routes 171, 151, 520 will detour past the closed section via Świętokrzyska, Emilii Plater, and Jerozolimskie avenues.

Night Bus Adjustments

N32, N35, N38, N85, N88 will turn from Jerozolimskie to Jana Pawła II and on to Świętokrzyska, then Emilii Plater, ending at Emilii Plater 01. Passengers board at Dw. Centralny 02 on Jerozolimskie. N42 will head toward Central Station via Świętokrzyska and Emilii Plater.

Monday Lane Allocation

On Monday, drivers will use both lanes between Królewska and Widok. Additional right turns to Sienkiewicz and Świętokrzyska will be available from Bankowo Square, while rides toward Dmowskiego Roundabout will turn right onto Świętokrzyska.

Fence Removal Near Bankowo Square

The removal of fences between Królewska and Senator by the end of Tram work at Ogród Saski reestablishes two lanes for traffic toward Bankowo Square from Monday onward.

Bike‑Road Construction Impact

On Monday, between Królewska and Świętokrzyska, the right lane toward Bankowo Square will be closed due to a new bike road. Rysia street will lose its link to Marszałkowska, but a lane beside the track will open. Drivers still enjoy two lanes each direction.

Ongoing Tram Work and Pedestrian Access

Tram crews will finish last works at crossings, pedestrian and bike road areas until Monday. These works will not affect tram operation, though pedestrians may use temporary surfaces in some spots. In autumn, a zebra crossing will link Złote and Central Square, while a crossing at Sienkiewicz will open next summer, allowing drivers to turn left onto Marszałkowska and U‑turn near Złote.

Green Plantings Along the Route

The Municipal Roads Authority will plant 101 young trees along the new track area, including 44 silver maples of the ‘Warszawskie’ variety between Królewska and Świętokrzyska. Together with previous plantings, about half‑a‑thousand trees will be added in a short time.

Grójecka Lanes Reinstated; Banacha Loop Delay

From Monday, all lanes on Grójecka between Narutowicza Square and Baśniowa Street will be restored. Tram lines will still finish work on trackside lanes, possibly narrowing them. The Banacha loop will remain shut until year‑end; Banacha no longer connects to Grójecka, and trams only use a single lane at the Banacha intersection.

End of Major Repairs in 2025

Restoring tram service on Marszałkowska and Grójecka marks the completion of the year’s final major repairs. Only weekend service gaps remain for maintenance or new track sections. In 2025, Tram Warsaw executed 34 repairs and modernized almost 10 km of track, all within the announced deadlines.
