Polish opposition MP Tobiasz Bocheński criticized the use of German butter on LOT flights, prompting a public reply from the airline’s spokesman.
Butter Debate Begins
Tobiasz Bocheński, a member of the Law and Justice party, released a video on X that shows German butter being served on Polish airlines during Donald Tusk’s government. He expressed anger at what he described as the export of foreign dairy products to Polish passengers.
Bocheński’s Criticism
In the clip, the MP argued that Germans, French and Scandinavians actively promote their own butter, and claimed that Poles should do the same. He also expressed surprise that netizens were not upset that Donald Tusk, a former Polish prime minister, appeared in the footage.
LOT’s Response
LOT Aviation’s spokesman Krzysztof Moczulski posted a photo on X with the slogan “Travel with us as smoothly as butter – no matter the direction.” He explained that every detail on board matters, from seats to beverage choices, and that passengers can find more than 100 Polish brands in the airline’s catering, which is normally prepared by local suppliers at the departure point.
Global Butter Prices Decline
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reported that global butter prices fell by 7% in September, even though they remain above 2024 levels. The drop reflects oversupply in the US, Europe and Oceania, weak global demand, a weak euro against the dollar, and tariff wars. In July 2025, the average price for a 200‑gram block of butter was about 7.8 zł, with experts predicting a price of approximately 6.6 zł in the coming weeks.
