New allegations against ‘casket-on-wheels’ lawyer: Supposed to deliver confidential documents to gang member

Polish lawyer Paweł K., nicknamed ‘casket on wheels’, has been convicted again for leaking confidential documents to a gang member, following earlier convictions linked to a fatal 2021 accident.

New conviction for revealing investigation secret

Polish lawyer Paweł K., known for the moniker ‘casket on wheels’, was found guilty by the Łódź‑Śródmieście District Court of concealing the secrecy of an investigation. The judge ruled that K. had handed confidential documents to a gang member, and sentenced him to 1 year 10 months of restricted liberty. The court also imposed a three‑year ban on practising his profession. Witness testimony that K. delivered the documents was deemed consistent and credible.

Fatal accident near Olsztyn (September 2021)

The accident occurred on 26 September 2021 on the Barczewo‑Jeziorany route when K. was driving a Mercedes and crossed a double solid line, colliding with a properly driving Audi. Two women travelling in the Audi were killed on the spot. Following the tragedy, the lawyer posted a video on social media about the incident, in which he remarked that ‘there are caskets on wheels’. The clip was later removed. In May 2023, the Higher Disciplinary Court suspended him from practising for two years. He was also sentenced for the accident to two years in prison, a five‑year driving ban and a duty to pay 5,000 to 30,000 zlotys to the victims’ families; that judgment was not final.

Alleged assistance to drug traffickers (August 2023)

In August 2023, K. and his wife allegedly aided individuals suspected of drug trafficking. Police claimed they were aware of a planned raid on the suspects’ apartment. During the search at K.’s Łódź home, officers seized 45 grams of marijuana. Although released after questioning, they were placed under police supervision or a ban from leaving Poland. Both face charges of ‘assistance to providing psychotropic substances’, carrying a maximum of ten years imprisonment.
