At 12:26 on 10 October, firefighters were dispatched to a vehicle workshop on Szymanowska Street in Teresin, Sochaczew County. When they arrived, the building was already completely engulfed in flames.
Firefighting Operations
The crews focused first on protecting a nearby tire shed, then applied three streams of water followed by foam. The fire was declared under control after less than 15 minutes from the first arrival and the operation continued with extinguishment and salvage work, lasting about one and a half hours.
Personnel and Resources
Nine fire engines and 38 firefighters from the Sochaczew County JRG PSP responded, assisted by volunteer fire departments from Budki Piaseckie, Niepokalanów, Paprotnia, Szymanów and Teresin. Police patrols, medical rescue teams and electrical and gas emergency specialists also were on scene.
Post‑Operation Measures
Following extinguishment, JRG PSP firefighters changed into replacement garments as part of an anti‑cancer preventive protocol. Special clothing contaminated with combustion products was sealed in designated containers and transported outside the fire apparatus cabin to minimise exposure to carcinogens, allowing staff to return to duty in clean, dry apparel.

The County Command of the State Fire Service in Sochaczew said: “We received the call at 12:26 on 10 October for a workshop fire on Szymanowska Street, Teresin. By the time local fire crews arrived, the building was fully engulfed. We acted immediately to defend the adjacent tire shed and to extinguish the blaze. After less than 15 minutes we had the fire under control, and the operation continued with fighting and dismantling the remains. No injuries were reported.”
