Tragic Accident During the Nys Rally: 40‑Year‑Old Driver Dies

On 12 October at about 11:30, a fatal crash killed a 40‑year‑old driver during the Nys Rally special stage in Stary Las, prompting the event’s cancellation.

Fatal Crash at Stary Las

An accident involving team 112, participating in the historical championships, occurred on the special stage Stary Las in Nys County, Głuchołazy municipality.

Despite immediate assistance, the 40‑year‑old driver was killed on site; the pilot was later taken to hospital.

Organizers’ Statement

The rally was cancelled and the organizers expressed their deepest condolences to the driver’s family, urging privacy for those affected and discouraging speculation.

They promised further information when available in cooperation with the relevant services, but would not provide additional comments at this stage.

Police Report

Police in Nys said a BMW caught fire after hitting a tree, and that one participant died at the scene while his companion was transported to hospital.

Investigators supervised the crash site, and the police confirmed the fatal outcome.

Earlier Incident Involving Photographers

The day before, another accident during the Nys Rally forced a car into a group of photographers, injuring two people.

Both were taken to hospital; one was air‑lifted by the Emergency Medical Aviation Service. Police are determining the cause of that incident.
