Morawiecki Shares Video of Mentzen Amid Confederation Clash

On Monday, October 13, Polish prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki posted a video of former Confederation MP Sławomir Mentzen discussing Ukraine workers and accusing him of promoting “ukrainization” of Poland.

Video Highlights Mentzen’s Claims

In the clip, Mentzen said that he runs companies that bring Ukrainians to Poland and commended the high demand for Ukrainian labour. He argued that Ukrainians earn salaries comparable to Poles, and said, “They simply want to work, and Poles don’t.” He then called for halting the “ukrainization” of Poland, adding a sarcastic remark about the business his office runs.

Confederation MP Thomas Grabarczyk Responds

MP Tomasz Grabarczyk, of Confederation, denounced Mentzen’s words as lies. He accused Mentzen of supporting social programmes for Ukrainians, such as “giving Ukrainians in Poland social benefits and access to health protection.” Grabarczyk claimed that the government has distributed these benefits to Ukrainians, and said they would not be forgotten by Poles.

Criticism Over Migration Policies

Grabarczyk also highlighted that Confederation has urged the Polish government to stop the mass migration into Poland. He accused the current administration of giving visas to “Arabs and Africans,” while providing financial support to Ukrainians. He warned that this policy would undermine, in his view, Poland’s credibility on immigration matters.
