Teenage Deaths Not Linked to ‘48‑Hour Disappearance’ Challenge

Police in Poland have closed investigations into the deaths of a 14‑year‑old and 15‑year‑old, saying the tragic toll was unrelated to the online “48‑Hours Challenge.”

Police End Search for Rzeszow Teens

On Saturday, 11 October, the Podkarpackie Police announced they had concluded the search for a 14‑year‑old resident of Rzeszow and a 15‑year‑old from Sanok County.

Bodies Discovered in Public Green Area

The bodies of both teenagers were found in a publicly accessible green space within Rzeszow, bringing closure to the investigation.

Police Say Deaths Not Linked to Trend

Speculation circulated that the disappearances might be tied to the online challenge “48 Hours Challenge – Disappear Without Trace.” According to Aleksandra Laskowska of the Main Police Headquarters’ Social Communication Office, the tragic deaths were unrelated to the trend.

No Increase in Trend‑Related Online Activity

Laskowska added that the police currently observe no rise in online posts encouraging youths to vanish for 48 hours. The Central Cybercrime Office confirms that interest in the challenge has not grown, and police continue to monitor potential threats to safety.
