Fatal Crash on A2 Claims 71‑Year‑Old Truck Driver

A 71‑year‑old DAF truck driver was fatally struck on the A2 motorway near Kopiska at about 8:45 a.m., after he exited the cab.

Accident Occurs

At about 8:45 a.m. on the A2 motorway near Kopiska, a 71‑year‑old DAF truck driver, who had stopped on the emergency lane and stepped out of the cab, was fatally struck by a 46‑year‑old Mitsubishi delivery‑vehicle driver.

Investigation Status

The police, supervised by a prosecutor, are examining why the truck was stopped and whether the driver observed all special precautions required on the motorway. The delivery‑vehicle driver has been confirmed sober.

Emergency Response

Fire brigades, medical rescue teams and the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service unit Ratownik12 responded. They secured the scene and carried out necessary investigative procedures.

Road Restrictions

During the rescue operation the A2 toward Warsaw was fully closed. Traffic now flows on a single lane and motorists must expect delays.
