Intoxicated, Drug‑Influenced Driver Violates Ban and Kills Passenger in Polish Crash

A Polish court has charged a drunk, drug‑affected driver who, despite a prior ban, caused a fatal crash on December 19 near Zaborowo, killing a passenger.

Filing Initiated the Court

In October, the Płock District Prosecutor’s Office forwarded a charge sheet to the Płock District Court against Grzegorz K., alleging he caused a deadly traffic incident on December 19, 2024. The investigation included witness interviews and eight expert reports, and the suspect has been in custody since the day after the event.

Accident Details

The fatal accident occurred on December 19, 2024, in the village of Zaborowo, Płońsk County. Testimony indicates that the accused’s Seat Leon veered into the opposite lane, then onto the left shoulder, before colliding with a tree. At the time of the crash, the vehicle was mechanically sound.

Victim and Circumstances

The collision left passenger Rafał C. dead. Investigation findings show the perpetrator was intoxicated and under the influence of a psychoactive substance.

Driver’s Violations

The accused also violated a court‑issued ban on operating motor vehicles imposed prior to the incident. The accident transpired while the ban was still active.

Current Status

Since December 20, 2024, the accused has remained in custody and faces up to 20 years of imprisonment, according to prosecutor Bartosz Maliszewski.
