The Internal Affairs Division of the National Prosecutor’s Office took over the investigation into allegations that Judge Jakub I. was driving under the influence on October 11, 2025, in Rejowc Fabryczny. A phone belonging to the judge was seized, expert opinions were requested, and monitoring footage was secured. Preliminary analysis indicated the presence of roughly 2 promille of alcohol.
Witness Accounts Place Judge Jakub I. in Accident Scene
Witness statements obtained on October 11–12 report that a woman saw the judge’s vehicle strike a tree at about 22:50 and then leave the scene. She claimed that the driver was a neighbor who had lived near the judge, not the judge himself. The judge later told police that he had been driven home by an unnamed colleague and that no other driver was present.
Forensic and Toxicology Tests Show 2 Promile Alcohol
Breathalyzer readings taken at the scene ranged from 0.907 to 0.959 mg/l of ethyl alcohol, corresponding to roughly 2 promille blood alcohol. Three blood samples were later collected in a hospital for toxicology testing for alcohol and drugs.
Phone Seized as Potential Evidence
On October 12, the prosecutor ordered the seizure of the judge’s phone, treating it as potential evidence that could contain correspondence related to the alleged driver.
