Police Deny 27‑Year Custody Claim of 42‑Year‑Old Mirelli in Świętochłowice

Police in Świętochłowice say 42‑year‑old Mirelli was not held against her will in her parents’ apartment for 27 years, denying television reports.

Media Focus on Mirelli

Polish news site Fakt first reported that 42‑year‑old Mirelli had allegedly been retained in her parents’ apartment in Świętochłowice for 27 years against her will. Local police were called to investigate the claim.

Police Intervention on 29 July 2025

At the address, officer Asp. Marcin Korek spoke with the resident and asked about the circumstances. The woman denied any fight or violence, claiming only a verbal dispute with her husband, who was not present at the time.

Medical Assessment

During the visit a 42‑year‑old woman was observed with marked leg swelling and difficulty walking. An ambulance was called and she was transported to hospital for further examination. Police visited the hospital the next day and requested assistance from the local Social Assistance Centre due to the woman’s health and the elderly status of co‑habitants.

No Missing‑Person Report Filed

Police stated that the findings from the intervention did not indicate any crime against the woman and that no prior police actions had been recorded at the address. No missing‑person notification or other troubling signals concerning the family were received by the municipal police command.

Investigation Underway

The police claim that preliminary findings do not support media reports of prolonged custody, and the Blue Card procedure was not initiated. A criminal investigation is being conducted by the Świętochłowice Criminal Department, and the collected evidence has already been forwarded to the prosecution.
