Police on October 14 found three unexploded rounds amid ongoing construction at Warsaw’s Cytadel, and rescued a worker crushed under a steel rail, sending him to hospital.
Unexploded Rounds Discovered at Cytadel Site
Three projectiles were found on the construction site of Warsaw’s Cytadel near Dymińska Street. Police from KRP Warsaw V secured the area and kept it under supervision until military sappers could take over.
Immediate Rescue Operation Saves Worker
While on duty, officers heard a boom and cries from the nearby construction area. They discovered a steel rail had fallen on a worker, pressing him to the ground. Using hand tools, including a crowbar, they levered the rail, lifted it and freed the victim, who was then transported to a hospital by medical rescue teams.
Site Remains Under Watch During Investigation
After the rescue, subsequent officers carried out further investigations and procedural actions. The site remains secured until sappers arrive to deal with the unexploded cartridges and other matters related to the construction incident.
