Secrets and Record Spending of Nawroński? President’s Office Responds

The President’s Office refutes reports that Karol Nawroński’s office will have record expenses next year, citing a lower increase than claimed.

Presidential Office Responds to Expense Claims

According to “Rzeczpospolita,” expenses of the President’s Office will be “record” next year, driven largely by foreign travel costs of 4.8 million zloty from the state budget. Journalists said this represents a 50 % rise over the current year.

The Office countered that the rise in domestic and international travel expenses for 2026 is not 50 % but just under 26 %, after accounting for a shift from line 75111 (International Policy Office). The change was explained as a need to reorganise budget classification and ensure transparency and coherence of funding.

Salary Increases Spark Speculation

Reports also claimed record spending stemmed from a salary rise of 11.4 million zloty, with total pay rising to 75 million zloty. A reader asked the Office about earnings of top officials hired by Nawroński.

The Office declined to provide such data, saying it was non‑disclosed. Critics of public‑life transparency rejected the refusal. The Office asserted that minister salaries are public and that presidential ministers earn the same as government ministers.

Budget Comparison with Other Offices

The Office said that in 2026 it will spend less than the Prime Minister’s Office or the Senate and Sejm offices. The planned 2026 budget is 325.5 million zloty, an increase of 26.6 million zloty (8.9 %).

By comparison, the Prime Minister’s Office budget will be 648 million zloty, the Senate Office will grow by 38.1 million zloty (15.32 %), and the Sejm Office will rise by 52.6 million zloty (6.2 %). Combined budgets for the Sejm and Senate will exceed 1 billion zloty.
