Sikorski Says Ukraine War Could End With a Single Phone Call

Polish foreign minister Radosław Sikorski told the UK Parliament that Russia could lose its war in Ukraine, and that a single call from President Putin could reverse the conflict.

Russia Could Lose the War

Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stated that Russia could lose its war in Ukraine—just as it has lost other wars against Britain, Japan, Poland, and Afghan mujahideen. He warned that Putin would only end the war if he viewed its start as a mistake and must understand that Russia is losing.

Sikorski said many Iranian drones used in Ukraine come from Western countries and urged tightening sanctions on them.

One Phone Call from Putin Could Withdraw Troops

In a briefing with journalists, Sikorski said ending the Ukraine conflict is simpler than ending the war in the Middle East, because a single phone call from Putin to Army General Valeriy Gerasimov could order a withdrawal. He noted the likelihood of such a call grows as the Russian economy falters.

He emphasized Ukraine has been stalling Russian advances in Donbas for ten years and that sustained Western support, along with sanctions on Russian oil, gas, and technology, is essential.

Kharkiv Attacked by Russian Guided Missiles

Russian forces launched air‑guided missiles at Kharkiv on the night of Monday to Tuesday, damaging a hospital and power infrastructure and injuring at least six residents. One missile struck a building housing an endocrinology clinic, forcing patients to move to other hospitals.

Authorities confirmed that three air‑guided bombs were used during the attack, marking the most significant strike on Ukraine’s second‑largest city to date.
