During the Monday summit in Sharm el‑Sheikh, President Trump introduced the leaders of the United States, Qatar, Turkey and Egypt, and in an unexpected turn said, “Hungary! Oh, Viktor. Orban Responds on X, Calls for European Action

Following the summit, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán posted on the X platform that in the Middle East weapons have fallen silent, hostages are free and a long‑awaited peace now reigns. He praised Trump for making it happen and urged Europe to follow the US example, stressing the necessity of ongoing negotiations and the importance of the EU refraining from sanctioning Russia, a stance he has held for more than three and a half years.

On the same day, the leaders of the United States, Egypt, Turkey and Qatar signed a declaration supporting peace in Gaza. The same day Hamas freed all living Israeli hostages, and Israel released Palestinian prisoners. Trump said that peace had settled over the Middle East and that the war in Gaza had ended, noting that humanitarian aid was pouring into Gaza with hundreds of trucks of food, medicine and other necessary items arriving on the ground, many financed by donors present at the summit.
