At about 17:00 on Monday, a nine‑year‑old riding a scooter crossed the designated cyclists’ crossing on Jana Pawła II Avenue in Żory, Silesian Voivodeship, when a Mercedes Sprinter truck failed to yield.
The child was lifted onto the road, sustaining a leg injury, and was taken by ambulance to a hospital for diagnostic examinations.
Police Findings
Police reports state the 79‑year‑old truck driver was sober at the time of the crash and did not give priority to the child.
