41‑Year‑Old Arrested in Łódź’s Serial Female Attacks, Claimed Money Motive

Łódź police have arrested a 41‑year‑old man linked to seven robberies of women in the Koziny and Żubarze districts, after he allegedly sought money in the attacks.

Arrest Linked to Seven Female Robberies

Łódź police detained a 41‑year‑old man believed to be responsible for seven robberies targeting women in the Koziny and Żubarze neighbourhoods. The suspect, released from prison in September, was arrested at a shopping centre on 11 October after a robbery in the Górna district. Police noted that the victim was a 62‑year‑old woman whose handbag was taken.

Confession Reveals Money Motive

During a hearing in the Łódź‑Górna prosecutor’s office, the defendant admitted the crimes and explained that, after leaving prison on 24 September 2025, he stole women’s handbags mainly in Bałuty between the mornings and evenings, seeking money. Prosecutor Paweł Jasiak said he faces a potential sentence of more than 20 years due to his repeated criminal history.

Prior Convictions and Possible Sentence

The 41‑year‑old man has been repeatedly sentenced for theft and robbery and spent over 20 years in prison. The prosecutor has applied for his temporary detention to prevent further offences before trial.

Ongoing Investigation of Residential Attacks

Earlier this month, social‑media posts reported attacks in two Łódź estates, with victims robbed after dusk on streets such as Gandhiego, Kasprzaka and Powstańców Wielkopolskich. Authorities confirm they are handling seven related investigations, and victims lost not only handbags but also wallets, bank cards, phones and keys.
